I was invited by an artist friend of mine, Justin Black, to put some work up in a show that was Sci-Fi/Fantasy themed. I of course agreed. I did a lot of sketches that were Portal/Portal2 related but just was not into them at the time. I decided instead to pursue a line of work that goes with ‘The Vessel’ and lumped it in with ‘Fantasy’.

Thinking along those lines I came up with a new piece: ‘The Creationist’
This piece follows directly with what I had done in ‘The Vessel’, using similar colors, themes, and atmosphere while also incorporating the smoky light effect I had begun to play with in ‘Mambo des Erzulie Freda’

While thinking about this as a series, I have also recently finished ‘The Nightmare’ or ‘That Dream again’… I had trouble coming up with a title. Tina pointed out that it’s color scheme and theme did not entirely match the others at the time.

So I went back and changed a few of the colors and added the glowing sphere:

The final title is ‘The Dreamer’.

Finally I printed the work at 13″x19″, framed and hung the pieces at the show.

Unfortunately due to a family thing I was unable to attend the show myself. I hope everyone enjoyed the pieces, I look forward to hanging the Portal-pieces next month!

Recently I have been searching for something new; I have been feeling uninspired.
I am trying to find some inspiration in my own life, in the things that I already have and use and love. Sometimes it could just be a change in perspective, i think.

I do not usually do these ‘personal’ posts but… it was a nice weekend.
Sunday morning was so beautiful that we took a nice walk for about two hours around the ‘neighborhood’.

Today I was introduced to the CameraBag iPhone ap, by Eddie Vasquez,which through it’s ‘filters’ allows us to mimic that look right there in the phone.

Downtown Austin near Whole Foods and Idea City

A few weeks ago we noticed that our bonsai tree was looking a little… down. As I recently learned in a presentation, trees can get depressed. Tina had the wonderful idea to re-pot the guy, after seeing that his roots were not taking since the last time we did it. I have no doubt that there will be angry bonsai-lites saying that we should do it more often, or never again.

So Tina jumped in. I hate getting dirty. Really. Never liked it growing up, still don’t like it as a 24-year-old. I hate being sticky, too. The pictures below are of Tina re-potting the bonsai. If we (she) are doing this wrong and you know of a better way, than please keep it to yourself. We can screw up our own tree if we want to.
